Farfield Mill, Sedbergh
Farfield Mill, by the Clough River, is a former woollen mill, which operated from 1837 to 1992. It is located on a minor road off the A684 Garsdale Road, about 1 mile east of the town of Sedbergh and 12 miles west of Hawes. In 2001 it reopened as an arts and heritage centre. Farfield Mill was given conservation area status in March 1993.
Farfield Mill is owned and run by Farfield Mill Limited, a charitable Community Benefit Society. "As an organisation we exist to honour and preserve Farfield Mill’s textile heritage providing a hub for creative enterprises, engaging the visiting public with and fostering in them an appreciation of weaving and other traditional and contemporary art and craft, and giving them an understanding of the significance of the heritage of the local wool industry..."
