Eskdale Mill
Eskdale Mill is located by Whillan Beck in the village of Boot in Eskdale, Cumbria. Eskdale Mill is one of the oldest water powered corn mills in England, and the last remaining working mill in the lake District.[1] The mill was documented in 1578 as part of the Percy family Survey. It was extended by Edward Hartley, who was miller from 1737-72. The mill was restored in 1975 for Cumbria County Council.[2] The mill is now managed by Eskdale Mill & Heritage Trust with visitor and educational facilities. The mill received £1m from the Heritage Lottery Fund, for repairs/renovation in 2018/9.[3] Eskdale Mill is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.
