St Peter ad Vincula Church

The old Church of St. Peter ad Vincula (St Peter in chains) is located on the Green in Thornaby-on-Tees. The building dates from the 12th century, though the site had been a place of worship going back to at least 1086[1]. Grace Pace, the mother of Captain James Cook, was christened in St Peters in 1702. The church was restored in 1908 and is a Grade II* listed building[2].
