Church of St Cuthbert
St Cuthbert's Church at Bewcastle was built in the 13th century, on an ancient site, using stone from the old Roman fort here. The church was partially rebuilt and it's tower was added in 1792, at which time it was dedicated to St Cuthbert. There were further alterations to the church in 1901. St Cuthbert's Church is a Grade II* listed building on the National Heritage List for England. In the churchyard is the famous Bewcastle Cross, which dates from the 7th century.
