Church of St Anne, Bishop Auckland


St Anne's Church is located at the south side of Market Place in Bishop Auckland. It was designed by William Thompson and built 1846-1848 by William Edgar. The church paid for by public subscription, including 1,000 guineas from Bishop Maltby. The church stands on the site of an earlier Medieval chapel. The church was alteratered in 1867 and again in 1893. It has incorporated a community centre since 1985. The church is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.
