Church of St Andrew, Blackhall
St Andrew's Church is located on Hesleden Road in Blackhall Colliery, with a church hall at the rear, on The Crescent. The church had originally been built around 1885 as St Paul's, near Stockton railway station. When the church became redundant, it was purchased for £300 and dismantled brick by brick and transported 15 miles to Blackhall and reconstructed on land and donated by the Colliery owners. Because the building was grimy from industrial pollution, it was rebuilt with the bricks reversed, leading to it's nickname of 'the inside-out church".
