Borgsten (launched 1963)

The Borgsten was an oil tanker built at the North Sands yard of J. L. Thompson & Sons Ltd, in Sunderland. It was launched by Lady Esther Wright on the 1st November 1963. At that time it was reputed to be the largest ship built in the UK. The ship was notable for its lack of a traditional bridge, and described as a "Robot" tanker in the news.[1] The ship was broken up in 1978.[2]
