Baybridge

Baybridge is a hamlet in Northumberland, located about ½ mile south-west of the village of Blanchland and 8 miles west of Consett in County Durham. Baybridge is situated near the confluence of Reeding Burn and the River Derwent. The former Wesleyan Chapel here dates from 1867. The settlement forms part of Blanchland Civil Parish. Interestingly - the bridge over the River Derwent and the Baybridge picnic area, situated by the north bank of the river, is in County Durham; the river used to be the county boundary, but hundreds of years ago the river changed its course, but the boundary remained as it was.
