Asby Endowed School

Asby Endowed School is a voluntary controlled primary school in Great Asby, Cumbria. It has about 20 pupils aged 4 to 11.[1] The school's history can be traced back to the 17th century; Asby Free School was built in 1688 by George Smith, who endowed it with 20 shillings a year.[2] That school was rebuilt in 1853 and then later enlarged and re-opened in 1880 as a public elementary school.[3] That building is the present school building.
