Alston Arches Viaduct
Alston Arches Viaduct is a disused railway viaduct over the River South Tyne at Haltwhistle. It was built in 1852 by Sir George Barclay Bruce for the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway Company.[1] The railway branch line closed on the 1st of May 1976. Then in 2006, the viaduct was restored by the North Pennines Heritage Trust, and reopened as part of a pedestrian footpath.[2] Alston Arches Viaduct is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
