All Saints R.C. Church
All Saints Roman Catholic Church is located on Kitswell Road in Lanchester. The present church was built in 1926, designed by Theo Korner. It replaced an earlier 'tin church' and convent.
The mission here was founded in 1901 from St Michael’s, Esh Laude. At that time, temporary tin church was erected, which had previously served St Nicholas’ Asylum at Gosforth in Newcastle. A convent was built beside the church, and is now used as the presbytery. Then a church school was built in 1905. The present church was consecrated on the 3rd of November 1928 by Bishop Joseph Thorman. The old temporary iron church was used as a church hall until it was finally demolished in the 1940s. The church's bell tower was added in 1955.[1]
