Live Theatre, Broad Chare, Newcastle
Nos. 27-29, Broad Chare, Newcastle are two former warehouses, built in c.1840 for Trinity House. The 4 storey building with 7 bays is built with English garden wall bond brick. In the later 19th century, shop fronts were inserted and a vehicle entrance altered. Part of the property of Trinity House, the building was later The Maritime Centre and Museum. Currently the building hosts Live Theatre; "Based on the Quayside in central Newcastle, Live Theatre is made up of a stunningly characterful main theatre, an adaptable studio space, a series of writing and rehearsal rooms, an atmospheric bar and the Lives Tales creative writing centre. We are known for our innovative business model, managing properties and enterprises in our immediate area to help funnel investment into artists and new work." The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
