Water Gate, Durham


Water Gate is located at the south end of South Bailey in Durham. It was a gateway in the Medieval city wall, which was rebuilt in 1787. From the gateway, South Bailey continues as a path, which descends down to the riverside and Prebends Bridge. Water Gate is a scheduled ancient monument and is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.
