Wainfordrigg (Hepple)

Wainfordrigg (Wainford Rigg) is a farm in Northumberland, located about 2½ miles north-east of Otterburn and 5 miles south-west of the village of Hepple. The farm is situated by Elson Burn. The present farmhouse was built in the mid-19th century, but a house was first recorded here in 1568.[1] Whellan's 1855 directory of Northumberland lists John Brodie as the farmer at Wainford Rigg at that time.[2] Historically, Wainfordrigg was part of Woodside Ward (township), in the ancient parish of Elsdon. Since 1955, Woodside has been part of Hepple Civil Parish.
