United Reformed Church, Great Bavington


"Built in 1693, Great Bavington church is the oldest former Presbyterian church in Northumberland which is still used for worship (and the second oldest in England, after Tunley in Lancashire)." (The National Churches Trust) The porch was added in 1725, with the date over the door. The building was altered in 1869 and a meeting room added in the 1970s. The church is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The house opposite the church was originally a school set up by the church, which educated local children until 1946, after which it became a youth hostel.
