Tynemouth Plaza (1878 - 1996)
Tynemouth Plaza was a prominent building which overlooked Tynemouth Long Sands, it was destroyed by a fire on the 10th February 1996.
The building was opened in 1878 as 'Tynemouth Aquarium and Winter Garden'. The building was renamed; 'Tynemouth Palace' in 1898, and its name was later changed to 'Tynemouth Plaza' in 1926. During the First World War, the building was used as a billet for troops.
