Thorncliffe School, Barrow-in-Furness (closed).

Thorncliffe School was located on Thorncliffe Road in the Ormsgill area of Barrow-in-Furness. The site on Thorncliffe Road originally opened in January 1964 as the Barrow County Technical School for Boys. It became a comprehensive school, named Thorncliffe School in c.1970. The school building underwent significant redevelopments in 1993 and again in the early 2000s. The school officially closed in 2009 when Furness Academy was created by the merger of Thorncliffe, Alfred Barrow, and Parkview schools. Thorncliffe became the 'North Site' for the new academy - used until a new multimillion-pound academy building on the 'South Site' (former Parkview School) was completed in 2013.
