Sunderland International Airshow
Sunderland International Airshow was first held in 1989 and became the biggest free annual airshow in Europe. The airshow was usually held in July each year at the Roker and Seaburn seafronts. The 3 day event was organised by Sunderland City Council - however it was cancelled in 2022 because of ongoing uncertainty created by the Covid pandemic. The Council then cancelled the 2023 event, citing 'global climate emergency' as a key factor the descision, with no plans set for hosting a future air show.
