Strawberry Place

It is said that Strawberry Place in Newcastle derives it's name from strawberries previously being grown here by nuns from near-by St Bartholomew’s , and used to made strawberry wine! (the nunnery were demolished in the 19th century, but are commemorated in the name of Nun Street). The Strawberry (pub) is located here on Strawberry Place. Newcastle United purchased the land, located directly behind the St James' Park stadium, and in 2023 began the planning application process for a new fan zone at Strawberry Place.
