Stainton Aqueduct
Stainton Aqueduct was built in c.1818 by John Fletcher (engineer) to carry the Kendal - Lancaster Canal over Stainton Beck and footpath. The Aqueduct, located to the south of Stainton, is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. Bridge #171 on the Lancaster Canal. The aqueduct was severely damaged by floodwater following Storm Desmond in December 2015. Restoration work was carried out from 2018-2020 by Kier for the Canal and River Trust.
