St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Cockermouth


St Joseph's Catholic Primary School was located on The Level in Cockermouth (closed in August 2022). A Catholic school was built, adjacent to St Joseph’s RC Church on Crown Street in c.1877. This school moved to this site on The Level in 1967, later renamed as St Joseph’s RC Primary School.[1] The school closed in 2022 following declining numbers. However, it is planned to reuse the site to host the sixth form of Whitehaven’s Mayfield School[2] (the site to be leased from the Catholic Diocese of Lancaster by Cumberland Council).
