Signal Box, Garsdale Railway Station

The signal box at Garsdale Railway Station was built in 1910 by the Midland Railway Company. In the early hours of Christmas Eve on its year of opening, a signalling error here, resulted in the 'Hawes Junction Disaster', when the Scottish Express ran into the rear of two light-engines, causing the deaths of 12 passengers. The signal box is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
