Saltburn Railway Station

Passenger services at Saltburn Railway Station began on the 19th of August 1861, although the ornate main building of the station wasn't completed until 1862. The station was built by the Stockton and Darlington Railway company (originally as the terminus of it's line from Redcar), which then became part of the North Eastern Railway in 1863. The main station building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The arrival of the railway in 1861 was a key factor in the rapid development of Saltburn-by-the-Sea as a resort during the Victorian era.
