Description
"The Church of England parish church of St. Andrew at Corbridge dates from Saxon times. St Wilfrid is supposed to have built the church at the same time as Hexham Abbey was constructed. There are still remains of that church built about 774 but obviously, it has been radically altered and modernised several times to deal with Danish and other marauders through the centuries, with a Norman doorway still in evidence, as well as a lych gate constructed in memory of the soldiers killed in the First World War. http://www.corbridgechurch.org.uk/History.htm St Andrew’s Church website" Photo by David Dixon, 2012. -
