    "This Presbyterian church, now a United Reformed Church, with adjacent hall, and walls and gates attached was built in 1888-90 to the design of John Bennie Wilson of Glasgow. Much of the finance was provided by R.A. Bartram, shipowner, who laid the foundation stone on February 7th, 1889. It is built of rock-faced red Dumfries sandstone with ashlar...."
