Description
"The site known as Burnhope Burn lies in the Derwent Valley, close to Derwent Reservoir and contains a range of habitats which are rare or local in County Durham and mainly characteristic of poorly drained soils. These include wet valley woodland, willow and alder carr, tall fen, basin mire and soligenous mire. Alder Alnus glutinosa woodland with ash Fraxinus excelsior and sessile oak Quercus petraea and a shrub layer including...." -
