  • Description

"Rendezvous Cafe in Wooler providing 'Food for thought', and featuring Cheviot Charlie on the wall, fully kitted out with a crook and a glass! By summer 2009 the two shops shown here had closed and were being re-fitted as an Indian takeaway. I can now confirm that although an Indian take-away is now (summer 2015) responsible for the catering, alongside its own 'Spice Shop', Cheviot Charlie has survived the transition and is still standing there (glass in hand) as proud as ever. He has probably never heard (nor at least understood) the adage 'Tempora muntantur, et nos in illis'." Photo by Stanley Howe, 2007.
