Roddam

  • Description

"A modest-sized country house seen in its parkland and behind its C18th retaining wall and ha-ha. The central block is early C18th and was reduced from two-and-a-half storeys in the late 1970s (Pevsner wrote that the change has made the house "seem somehow gentler, less Northumbrian"). The pedimented wings were added by Lancelot Coxon in 1765-83(closer view: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1844306). Grade II listed." Photo by Stephen Richards, 2010.
