Brotton Station (remains)

  • Description

"View northward, towards Loftus and Whitby; ex-North Eastern Middlesbrough (via Boosbeck) and/or Saltburn - Loftus - Whitby - Scarborough lines. The Brotton - Saltburn service ceased on 6/9/57 but the line remains open for goods; Whitby (West Cliff) - Loftus closed 3/5/58; Loftus - Boosbeck/Guisborough closed 30/4/60, when Brotton station closed to passengers. Boosbeck - Brotton closed completely 12/9/64; however on 1/4/74 a single line was restored and freight traffic continues from Boulby and Skinningrove through Brotton." Photo by Ben Brooksbank, 1961.
