The Brotton - Saltburn service ceased on 6/9/57 but the line remains open for goods; Whitby (West Cliff) - Loftus closed 3/5/58; Loftus - Boosbeck/Guisborough closed 30/4/60, when Brotton station closed to passengers. Boosbeck - Brotton closed completely 12/9/64; however on 1/4/74 a single line was restored and freight traffic continues from Boulby and Skinningrove through Brotton."
