    Rev. Isaac Benson 1795-1864 Born in Windermere and appointed in 1823 to serve under the patronage of Thomas Hustler as Vicar of Acklam and village shcoolmaster. From 1840, after becoming responsible for St. Hilda's Parish, he ministered for the next twenty-four years as the first Vicar of Middlesbrough.
