  • Description

Description : This black-and-white photograph taken around 1890 shows various boats and ships anchored on the River Tyne at sunset. There are two larger ships anchored next to each other in the centre foreground of the picture. Numerous smaller sail boats are behind them. The silhouette of the High Level Bridge can be seen up-river across the middle of the background. This photographic print is probably from the original glass plate negative and printed not long after the negative was developed.
