Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of Hanover Street Newcastle upon Tyne taken in 1971. The photograph is looking down onto Hanover Street as it climbs up to Hanover Square. The buildings on the left-hand side of the street have been demolished and there are bonded warehouses on the right-hand side. The granite cast-way can be seen in the centre of the street. The cast-way helped vehicles to grip the road as they were going up or down the steep street.
