The photograph shows the demolition of part of the decking over John Dobson Street. The side of the Laing Art Gallery is on the opposite side of John Dobson Street. New Bridge Street runs in front of the decking and the Laing Art Gallery cutting John Dobson Street into two. The Nationwide Building Society's headquarters are on New Bridge Street opposite the Laing Art Gallery. The other half of John Dobson Street which ends at Market Street is to the right of the Nationwide Building Society. Carliol Street which runs from Market Street to Worswick Street can be seen in the distance.
