Looking west from the edge of Bowness Promenade at the steamer Swift, flying the Furness Railway flag and about to dock at the steamer pier with a big crowd on board. More passengers await on the pier; all are dressed ready for inclement weather. Lots of rowing boats await customers on the foreshore and around the jetty in the foreground, where a pedestrian passes by.
