Approaching site of former Middleton-on-Lune station

  • Description

"View northward on A683 up the Lune Valley towards Sedbergh. The station, on the ex-LNWR ('Little North Western') (Clapham) - Ingleton - Sedbergh - Low Gill line, had been c. 300 yards ahead, the trackbed being on the left here. The station had been closed 13/4/31 to passengers (10/2/47 to goods), but the line lasted until 26/7/66, as a possible diversionary route, although regular passenger services ceased from 1/2/54 and goods from 1/3/65."
