Coat of arms of Carlisle, Tullie House, Carlisle
-
Description
"What looks at first like a butterfly turns out (rather diappointingly) as a pair of dragons. Carlisle's motto is "Be Just and Fear Not". The coat of arms is on an internal stained-glass display in Tullie House. This coat of arms has been used by the city council since 1924, when it replaced two unofficial coats of arms http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6151412 usually displayed side by side https://www.heraldry-wiki.com/heraldrywiki/index.php/Carlisle ."
