Farm at Great Isle

  • Description

"An unusual name for a farm. It's probably explained in that the farm and the distant farm Little Isle, stand on slightly higher 'islands' of land in what is, or once was, an area of wet ground. The word Carrs appears many times on OS maps naming areas of land in this vicinity. Wikipedia tells that "A carr is a type of waterlogged wooded terrain"." Photo by Trevor Littlewood, 2018.
