Crown & Thistle pub, Rockcliffe - December 2016 (1)

  • Description

"Early 19th century pub with late 20th Century additions, the "Crown & Thistle" was acquired by the State Management Scheme on 1 October 1916 and promptly closed. It is not clear when it reopened, or when the modern extension was added, but the 1973 OS map shows the building as a public house while the Scheme's 1972 Tender mentions the property was "recently modernised and extended". Still trading. Photograph is for record only - I have no connection with this business and cannot advise on its products or services." Photo by The Carlisle Kid, 2016.
