    Northern Echo, 4th May 2018. "....Dozens of people turned out at the Wheatley Hill Cemetery, in east Durham, to see the Last Shift, by artist Ray Lonsdale revealed for the first time. The creation of the statue, based on a photograph of local miner Tom Davies in his pit clothes, was the culmination of four years of hard work to raise more than £22,500 to commission the work...."
