The 'Royal Scot' entering Carlisle
-
Description
"View NW by Dentonholme North Junction; West Coast Main Line, just north of Carlisle Citadel Station, where the Main Goods Avoiding-Lines joined (on the left). The 'crack' Royal Scot express (10.00 from Glasgow Central) took over seven hours - almost non-stop - to get to London Euston in those days. Here it is headed by 'Coronation' 4-6-2 No. 46221 'Queen Elizabeth'." Photo by Ben Brooksbank, 1960. -
