Description
100 years ago Sergeant William McNally of the 8th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment was awarded the Victoria Cross. The actions for which he won this award were on 27 and 29 October 1918. William McNally was a native of Murton in County Durham. To commemorate the award of the VC, a special stone was unveiled at the McNally Memorial beside the Cenotaph in Murton.
