Acklington - Memorial Hall

  • Description

"...The village raised so much money for their war memorial that, having placed the plaque inside the church for the fallen, and erected the lychgate to commemorate those who served, they had enough money left over to put towards a war memorial hall. This was built but, just before it was finished, it was blown over in a gale. It was rebuilt, but later demolished and replaced by the present hall...."
