Description
"Looking upstream towards the [[5900221]]. The bridge was built for the 1990 Gateshead Garden Festival. It's made from ekki, a very strong African hardwood; this wood is also now being used to repair Dunston Staiths [[4403117]]. See also [[5900221]]. The former bridge on this site used to carry the railway lines over which coal from the Durham coalfields was carried to [[5901999]] to be loaded by chutes [[5901998]] into ships docked by the lower level of the staiths - see [[5902408]]."
