Priory Gatehouse, Wetheral

The Gatehouse Tower for the former Benedictine Priory at Wetheral dates from the 15th century. The priory was founded in c.1100, but the gatehouse is thought to be a later rebuilding, after the destruction of the original buildings following successive border raids.[1] The gatehouse is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade I listed on the National Heritage List for England.
