Pow Bridge, St. Bees
Pow Bridge is a stone roadbridge over Pow Beck, in St. Bees. The bridge, dated 1585, was built for Archbishop Grindal, whose coat of arms and initials appear on dated panel, which is set in centre of west parapet. Single elliptical arch of c12 ft span. The bridge shown in Buck's 1739 engraving of Priory Church. The bridge has been modified and widened over time. Pow Bridge is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.
