Old Milestone, Stannington


This old Milepost is on the grass verge by the old Great North Road near Swan Farmhouse at the south of Stannington, shows the distances in miles to Newcastle and Morpeth, respectively. The metal post was erected by the Cow-causey & Buckton-Burn turnpike trust in the 19th Century. The milepost is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
