This old milestone is located by the A5086 east of Papcastle, by the junction with Drovers Lane at Gote Brow, about 1 mile north-west of Cockermouth. The milestone was erected in the late 18th or early 19th century, for the Cockermouth-Maryport Turnpike Trust. The milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
