Old Milestone, Bongate


Old milestone, by the wall of no.7, on the east side of Bongate in Appleby-in-Westmorland. The post was erected by the Brough & Eamont Bridge Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. One plate is missing. Milestone Society National ID: WE_BGAP08M.[1] The milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.

MILESTONE ON FOOTPATH IN FRONT OF NUMBER 7 - Appleby - List Entry
- Early C19, all metal, triangular plan, with half-pyramid top. Raised metal lettering "Brough 8 miles, Penrith 13 miles".
