Old Drinking Fountain, Stannington
This old drinking fountain is in a prominent location on Church Road in Stannington. The stone fountain is located on a triangular island at a road junction. Dated 1902, the stone column has an inscription: "This water was brought to the village of Stannington by Viscount Ridley, in commemoration of the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. 1902" The old drinking fountain in Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The fountain was refurbished in 2000 to celebrate the Millennium. It also serves as the village war memorial; next to the fountain is a plaque inscribed "In Memory of the Fallen. Least we Forget."
